Are spices useful for weight loss?

Spices can improve your health in amazing ways! They can make a significant contribution to maintaining the health of your intestines and can improve your metabolism to help you lose weight. In fact, in addition to being used in cooking, spices are also used in the medicinal, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and fragrance industries. It’s all because spices include powerful antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are great for maintaining health.

Health Shots contacted Divya Gopal, Consultant – Dietitian/Nutritionist, Motherhood Hospital, Banashankari, Bengaluru, to find out if drinking spiced teas can actually help burn fat or not.

Gopal says, “It is a well-known fact that some tea recipes help with abdominal fat loss and weight loss. But if you are struggling with a lot of weight, adding spices to the tea can help you a lot.”

Here are some of the tea recipes that will help you lose weight:

1. Turmeric Mint Tea

Add water, a pinch of turmeric and a few mint leaves to one and a half cups of water and bring to a boil. After removing from heat, serve warm with honey for sweetness. Mint leaves are high in fiber and extremely low in calories, and turmeric has strong antiseptic and antibacterial properties that help prevent indigestion and inflammation. Together, these components can help reduce abdominal fat.
