The monsoon brings different emotions: relief from the scorching heat, cool breeze, memories of playing in the streams as a child and drinking chai with loved ones while enjoying the rain outside. But it also brings with it an increase in airborne illnesses and the possibility of catching colds or fevers. Talking about different ways to boost immunity and change diet to stay fit and healthy, Integrative nutritionist and health coach Neha Ranglani shares three foods that remain constant throughout the season:

Be sure to get your share of vegetables in the form of a bowl of hot soup. Have a variety of soups made from spinach, sweet corn, mushrooms, tomatoes, and carrots. Avoid the use of artificial flavors or sweeteners to ensure you get the maximum amount of nutrients and vitamins. Including hot soups in your meal will help keep your nasal passages clear and will also soothe your throat. Be sure to add seasonings like garlic and ginger in small amounts to add more flavor to the soup. We have this healthy spinach and melon seed soup to get you started.
Advice: Add a pinch of pepper to your soup as it can help boost your immune system!

They are also packed with calcium, fiber, minerals and enzymes and are vital for holistic development.

They are a healthy source of energy to help you stay active. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant to support lung immune function. It has been found to be effective in preventing and reversing various disease complications due to its function as an antioxidant, its role in anti-inflammatory processes, its inhibition of platelet aggregation, and its immune-enhancing activity. Vitamin E is also known to offer protection against infections caused by viruses and bacteria.
