Hy-Vee Dietitians Host Healthy Back-to-School Events in August

hy-vees dietitians are ready to help families stay healthy as carefree school days replace summer schedules by kicking off a series of programs and workshops focused on helping children and families prepare for the year ahead. school with healthy recipes.

Every month, Hy-Vee’s team of dietitians host free virtual cooking classes for aspiring chefs. The goal is to help children feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen and improve their cooking skills through simple, easy-to-follow recipes. Classes are available for the following age groups: Little Chefs (ages 3-7) and Junior Chefs (ages 8 and up).

Throughout August, families and children are invited to participate in a free virtual nutrition tour focused on balanced nutrition from all five food groups, interactive food trivia, and fun breaks to move. Participants will receive buying tips and product recommendations.

On August 27, select Hy-Vee stores will host the retailer’s annual August Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults and children are invited to attend for free to receive back-to-school prescriptions and learn more about Hy-Vee’s health. and wellness programs, including Healthy Habits and Frozen Meals Workshops.

Hy-Vee dieticians will also host two types of virtual frozen meal workshops designed to help families save time and money by preparing nutritious meals ahead of time. Participants can sign up and receive a step-by-step guide, recipes and a link to shop at Hy-Vee Aisles Online with all the ingredients already added for easy shopping.

Hy-Vee also presents an On-Demand Mini Freezer Meals Workshop: Back to School Made Easy fThree mini-classes, featuring three back-to-school breakfast recipes, and Freezer Meals Workshop: Gluten and Dairy Free Recipes ($10).

According to Hy-Vee dieticians, preparing ahead of time is key when managing dietary restrictions. The new The Frozen Meals Workshop focuses on gluten and dairy free recipes. Participants will learn to prepare five tasty and affordable meals.

Also scheduled for free virtual Wellness Wednesdays with Hy-Vee dietitians, as well as free Wednesday Wellness classes, to be offered each week in August from noon to 12:30 p.m. Topics will include Back-to-School Fuel, The ABCs of Antioxidants, Best Breakfast Bars, Healthy Eating on a Budget and Advancement of Healthy Habits. Each class will include a demonstration of a simple and delicious recipe.
