John MedfordDorothy Eugenia “Jean” Colley Medford, 94, of Tifton passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at her residence. Her funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Tifton Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Medford was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Medford was born on August 8, 1927 in Albany. She was the daughter of the late Inez Farr Colley and Homer VanBuren Colley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harmon Crum “HC” Medford; four sisters, Leola Peterson, Wynelle Kelty, Orlena Frazier, and Zeph Rogers; and three brothers, Van Buren Colley, Mitchell Colley, and Alec Colley. She was a homemaker and took pride in preparing healthy and nutritious meals for her family, always on the lookout for new recipes. She was very involved in raising her three daughters and exposing them to many activities, including GA’s and 4-H. She was a member of the Tifton Heritage Book History Committee. Her hobby was ancestry, researching for 44 years and amassing volumes of information for her and HC branches of the family. She graduated from Tift County High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton. She loved the Lord and was a shining light to Him. She was a great prayer warrior, she shared her faith with many and she will be missed.
Mrs. Medford is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beth Medford-Rhymes and her husband Tom of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Jan Medford Johnson of Tift County and Lynn Medford McDonald and her husband William of Tifton: five grandchildren, Milton Johnson of Tifton, Celeste Johnson Wishing and husband Kyle of Atlanta, Jonathan Rhymes and husband Alison of St. Petersburg, Florida, Medford McDonald of Tifton and fiancee Jamie Wilson of Hawkinsville, and Miles McDonald of Atlanta: three great-grandchildren, Nayara Wishing, Reef Wishing and Arlo Rhymes; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to her nannies, Minnie Cherry, Jackee Watts, and Ruby Brown, for their exceptional care and friendship.
