“If an increasing number of Republicans experience extreme weather conditions and younger generations continue to exhibit higher levels of environmental concerns, these supporters in general are more likely to believe that global warming is affecting the world and increase their concern about the environment,” the Gallup researchers said.

The poll shows that 64 percent of Democrats care a lot about the environment, and 80 percent of Democrats across all age groups say the effects of climate change and global warming are already here. On the opposite side, 44 percent of Republicans say the world is experiencing the effects of climate change.
